Vagabond (2009)

CD-Cover Vagabond

The ocean, long beaches, rugged cliffs, lonely walking through the dunes - this is where guitarist Christian Straube finds his inspiriation. His new CD "Vagabond", Brittany, its landscape, the feasts where people dance through the night, that's what his compisitions tell about. His music is building bridges between past and present, classic and folk, counterpoint and popular songs. These are no contradictions for Christian Straube. and so he wrote a suite in six parts about Lanniliz, a small village at the end of the world. Coming from Breton melodies he transforms this suite to a classical piece of art. Typically Straube whose guitar playing speaks to your mind as well as to your emotions. The mood of a late summer evening, the touching fragility of a butterfly are subject to his compositions. Straube takes his inspiration from his own musicla developement that took him from Blues, Rock and Folk to a classical education.

draußen (double-cd, 2001)

CD-Cover draußen

Straube's 7th release atmospherically and musically follows up on his compositions of the years 90, but captivates through its balladesque form. Music to lift you up, like it was produced for Café del Mar - just traditionally on the guitar. Straube invites his audience to travel through his musical universe, ending in a mood that might be called harmony. A surprise waits on the second CD: Straube interprets his pieces together with saxophonist Lömsch Lehmann, bass player Sebastian Gramss, percussionist Hakim Ludin and guitarist Ian Melrose.

Strandgut (1998)

CD-Cover Strandgut

The celtic tradition is rich of tales, myths and strange stories. Christian Straube has absorbed this tradition for his first solo-album and used it as a source of inspiration for 16 compositions that take the audience to a sensual journey to Ireland, Scotland and Brittany. Every part of this journey tells its own little story and has been wrapped in its own atmospherical music dress. There are calm and pensive pieces - reflecting the poetic side of Christian Straube. There are happy, propelling and almost finger breaking songs and song parts that are played with accuracy and not only show tempo but also groove and melody. In his playing and recording Straube demonstrates maturity as a composer, joy of perfection and the pure sound of his concert folk guitar.

Zweisamkeiten (1997)

CD-Cover Zweisamkeiten

Christian Straube and Michael Busch, guitar teacher and pupil, started a close musical dialogue for this album. All songs have been composed together, the soli are from Christian Straube alone. These twelve pieces have been mainly inspired by the European, especially the German folklore. The classical guitar, blues, jazz and the romantic art song have left their traces. There's one thing that all songs have in common: they are catchy, simple but still frisky melodies that give an inner tension to this music.
