Christian Straube is one of the most multitalented guitarists of Germany. He is a traveller between the worlds of music and beyond the borders of nationalities. He is living in Germany as well as in Switzerland and he loves to travel to France.
Inspired by the Breton music and his classical education Christian Straube creates his own music. He is a passionate composer and apart from his own pieces he also writes music for the theatre. His songs draw from the different musical experiences he has made over the decades. He uses the lyrical from folk, the harmony and articulation of the classic, the freedom of jazz, even elements of rock, blues and pop in order to build his distictive stilistics.
His music is based on the steel string guitar he plays with a highly developed technical precision. In ever changing variations and melodies Christian Straube leads his audience to the sensuality of his world of music.
His creation dissolves boundaries. As in his duett projects with musicians like Friedemann, Ralf Gauck, David Kummer and with his ensemble "Grand Cru" with its unusual instrumentation.
Christian Straube is a guitarist, a composer, teacher at the "Zentralschweizerische Musikschule" and festival director.
